Where the facts on yoosteel.net come from, how we write about plating and skin, and how to tell us we got something wrong.

Every page on yoosteel.net is written by the people who run the Yoosteel catalog. This is how we decide what goes on a page.

Facts about our jewelry

Base metal, plating, stones, chain and extender lengths, pendant sizes, closures and the number of pieces in a set come from our own product data. Where two descriptions of the same piece disagree, the site prints the more careful of the two, or leaves the detail out.

Photographs are our own. We leave out the frames with measurements or words printed over them, so a picture on this site shows the piece and nothing written on top of it.

What we do not claim

Our pieces are plated, and plating wears with time. We do not call them solid gold or fine jewelry, we do not promise that plating keeps its color for good, and we do not promise that a piece suits every skin.

Materials and skin

Our plating guide points to the terms the Federal Trade Commission sets for gold plated and sterling silver jewelry, and to what the American Academy of Dermatology says about nickel. We read each source before we cite it, and the date we read it is printed next to it. This is general information about jewelry materials, fit and care, not medical advice. If a piece irritates your skin, take it off and talk to a dermatologist.
