How an initial necklace is chosen
Three things decide an initial necklace, and the letter is the easiest of them. The second is scale: an 18 mm coin reads from across a room, a script letter or a small heart reads when someone is close. The third is length. Our layered styles start at 14 inches for the short chain, our single pendants at 16, and the extender on every one of them adds two inches or more.
Most of this shelf is 14K gold plating, with silver and rose gold finishes on the best-loved styles. The sterling silver initial is the exception: 925 silver with a white gold plating, for anyone who wants a precious metal under the finish. If you are buying for a child, the colorful beaded necklace is the one sized as a short choker with a letter pendant.
